CarAcc5

One man has been arrested in connection with a deadly car accident that happened in New Orleans just this last weekend. According to news reports, on Sunday, January 19, at around 5:41 a.m. in the morning, a two-vehicle car accident left one person dead. The deadly accident happened on Interstate 10 in New Orleans, at the Elysian Fields Exit. New Orleans Police Department officers and first responders on the scene indicate in their initial report that they believe that a man was “getting out of his Volkswagen Jetta after pulling over to inspect possible car issues,” when another man plowed into him with his Ford F250 truck. The man who was killed was on the side of the road, and the man in the truck was heading east on Interstate 10 when the accident happened. The man who had left his car to inspect it and was hit was, tragically, pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. As for the driver of the Ford F250 truck, the driver, now identified as 45-year-old Jerome Lamar Gross, was suspected of being intoxicated while driving, and he was placed under arrest. Gross now faces criminal charges of driving under the influence. The Interstate was closed as a result of the accident, and no other additional information was released at the time of recent news reports. It remains to be seen what will happen in the criminal DUI case against Gross.
