Oregon Worker Suffers Traumatic Impaling Accident on the Job – Where to Turn if You are Injured at Work in Louisiana

WorkInjury18

A horrific accident that left an Oregon worker clinging to his life last week revives the discussion of what recourse injured workers have after they experience a terrible and traumatic workplace injury. According to local reports, on August 11, Portland Fire & Rescue and American Medical Response teams were called to a maintenance shop in Portland, Oregon, after a worker suffered a workplace injury that rendered him impaled. At the scene of the accident, rescue and emergency response personnel found the injured worker impaled in the abdomen by a wrecking bar. The worker is said to have been performing work-related tasks when the wrecking bar penetrated his body and impaled him in the abdomen. According to reports, the worker was impaled “completely.”

Fortunately, first responders on the scene were able to stabilize the injured worker enough so that he could be transported to a nearby trauma center. First responders were forced to use alternative methods to transport the injured worker, as the length of the wrecking bar was too long to fit into emergency transport service vehicles. Instead, the injured worker was placed on a gurney with the wrecking bar still attached and was escorted down the roadway by emergency vehicles. At the trauma center, the worker is said to have received medical treatment, while workers at the work site were provided with emotional support assistance services. The condition of the injured worker is currently unknown.
