One Killed in Mississippi Accident Involving Commercial Truck – 18-Wheeler Truck Accidents Under Mississippi Personal Injury Laws Explained

18Wheeler

Commercial trucks are an extremely vital part of how everyday items such as food, clothing, medicine, and books get from hub to road to shelf to be used by Mississippians. Indeed, with a network of highways, roadways, and interstates to travel to, from, and through the state, trucks run Mississippi roads at a constant pace. However, as important as commercial trucks are for the survival of Mississippi residents, they can be deadly when sharing the road with Mississippi motorists and drivers. Unfortunately, a very recent 18-wheeler-involved accident in Mississippi underscores this very point.

According to local news reports, on the morning of Tuesday, March 4, a truck accident claimed the life of a 25-year-old man in Perry County, Mississippi. The fatal truck accident was reported to have happened on U.S. 98. Mississippi Highway Patrol officers indicated that the accident involved a 2000 International Tractor-trailer, which is the tractor-trailer part of a commercial truck, and a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado. The commercial truck was being driven by 41-year-old Antoine Weathers of New Augusta, and the Chevrolet Silverado was driven by Conner Sanderson, a 25-year-old man from Richton. Investigators believe that Weathers and Sanderson collided with each other on U.S. 98 at around 5:30 a.m., leading to the fatal truck accident. Mississippi Highway Patrol officers noted that Sanderson “received fatal injuries in the crash,” and that he did not make it to the hospital and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The terrible and fatal commercial truck-involved crash is now under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Commercial Truck Accidents in Mississippi – What You Need to Know

Commercial truck accidents are no joke in Mississippi. When a commercial truck is involved in a motor vehicle accident with smaller cars, SUVs, motorcycles, or pedestrians on the road, the results can be deadly. Commercial trucks, due to their weight and size, even when they are not hauling any cargo, can be deadly machines, and truck accidents can end in serious fatalities. When a person is injured in a commercial truck accident in Mississippi, it is important for them to know that they may have a right to compensation under Mississippi personal injury laws. Truck accident survivors in Mississippi may bring a lawsuit in court against not only the negligent truck driver that caused their injuries, but also potentially their employer. There is a limited time to bring a personal injury lawsuit for compensation in Mississippi, so it is best to speak with an experienced Mississippi personal injury lawyer as soon as possible after a serious truck accident occurs.
