New Orleans Woman Who Took New Orleans PD Officers on High-Speed Chase, Killing Two Teens, Turns Herself In to Authorities
A New Orleans woman who took New Orleans Police Officers on a dangerous high-speed chase throughout the city at the beginning of the month finally turned herself in to authorities. According to local news reports, the 31-year-old woman ow faces criminal charges and allegations against her that she caused a multi-fatality car accident in which two New Orleans teenagers were killed. Investigators believe that Smooth may have been part of a getaway in which a group of women attempted to flee the New Orleans’ Lakeside Mall after being caught shoplifting. The women fled in a red SUV, and headed to Interstate 10. Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office police officers pursued the red SUV, but the SUV crossed the Jefferson-Orleans parish line, and the chase was terminated. New Orleans police became aware of the red SUV (that they now believe to have been driven by Smooth) speeding through the streets, and recognized the SUV as a 2013 Mercedes GLK SUV. She then allegedly exited the interstate, but failed to make a right turn and crossed two southbound lanes, hitting a median on the road in the vicinity of the St. Bernard Avenue off-ramp. Due to the force of the maneuver, the Mercedes GLK became airborne and hit a 2022 Toyota Camry that was passing by. Three occupants were inside the Toyota Camry when it was hit by Smooth, and all of them were young high school students.
