Head-On Car Accident Leaves Three Dead, 1 Seriously Injured in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana

CarWreck

Earlier this summer in June, a terrible car accident claimed the lives of three people, and left one person fighting for their life in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. According to local news reports, on Sunday, June 9, a head-on collision ended in multiple fatalities and one seriously injured person on Louisiana Highway 308 near McCloud Drive. State Police investigating the fatal accident believe that the accident began when one driver tried to handle a curve at an excessive speed, but failed to properly take it, and, instead, crossed into the oncoming lane. Ethelwaldo Dejesus of Metairie, Louisiana, was driving a 2018 Honda Accord on that June evening, when he sped through a right-turning curve, and crashed head-on with a 2022 Honda Pilot. Dejesus, who was 55 years old at the time of the accident, was killed in the collision. Dejesus’ passenger, 30-year-old Braysi Pineda Zuniga, of Kenner, Louisiana, was also killed in the head-on car crash. The 49-year-old passenger of the Honda Pilot, identified as Page Abadie of Galliano, Louisiana, was also killed in the fatal head-on collision. The only survivor of the accident was the driver of the Honda Pilot, whose identity was not disclosed at the time of the initial reports. The investigation into the accident preliminarily revealed that all of the people that were involved in the accident were wearing their seatbelts, except for Dejesus. The terrible accident demonstrates just how fast a car accident can happen, even when an older, perhaps more experienced individual, is navigating a turn.
