WorkersComp5

News of the death of a 29-year-old female worker at a Mosaic phosphate manufacturing plant in Polk County, Florida, took the internet by storm over the weekend and has shaken a community to its core. According to local news reports, Fox 13, Jameka Williams, a 29-year-old employee of the Mosaic company, a company that mines and manufactures phosphate and other materials, was working as a process operator for Mosaic when she fell to her death in a horrific industrial workplace accident. Although details are still being pieced together by investigating law enforcement authorities, investigators believe that Ms. Williams was positioned on top of a piece of machinery at the Mosaic plant, when “for unknown reasons” she slipped and fell into the machinery. Tragically, rescue teams were still attempting to get Mr. Williams’ body out of the machinery on Saturday afternoon. Of the terrible and fatal workplace accident, Sheriff Grady Judd said, “We want to return her to her loved ones as soon as possible. Keep them all in your prayers. Pastor Dr. Angela Clark noted of Ms. Williams and her family through the terrible time, “If I had to describe this family in four letters. It would be love…Jameka was a devoted mother to Ja-Skylar as well as a devoted sister, niece, and friend to everyone around her.”

The fatal workplace accident is still under investigation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is currently on scene.
